About Lin

Q: When did you start learning the piano?
A: I started learning classical piano at the age of five, and it’s been a lifelong passion ever since.

Q: What qualifications do you have?
A: I hold a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I also have an ABRSM Piano Teaching Diploma.

Q: How long have you been teaching piano?
A: I’ve been teaching since my undergraduate years — from 2012 to now, which means over a decade of experience with students of all levels.

Q: What level of students do you typically teach?
A: I work with a wide range — from complete beginners to Grade 8 level. I also teach two full days a week at one of London’s top-rated secondary schools, where most students prepare for ABRSM or Trinity Grade 3–8 exams.

Q: What ages do you teach?
A: I welcome students aged 5 and above — both children and adults are very much encouraged!

Q: Where do the lessons take place?
A: I’m based in Blackheath (SE13). You’re welcome to come to my cosy home studio for in-person lessons. I also offer home visits within a reasonable distance, and online lessons — especially popular with my music theory students.

Q: When are you available for lessons?
A: During the summer, I’m available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. From mid-September onwards, I’ll be offering lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss a time that works for you!

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy emphasizes "inspiration over prescription." Alongside traditional piano instruction, I integrate music theory and history into my lessons, aiming to inspire my students to become lifelong learners of music and develop a comprehensive understanding of the art beyond piano performance.
I actively share my piano performances, tutorials, and teaching thoughts on social media, where my content has resonated with many music lovers. I’m grateful to have built a following of nearly 40,000 people who connect with my approach to teaching and learning music.

2. Aural Training – with solfège-based methods

5. Learn the Piece You Love – I’ll help you learn the song or piece you want to play within a set time frame, with achievable weekly goals and effective strategies
6. Piano Improvisation & Accompaniment (Beginner–Intermediate) – Want to learn how to turn a pop song into a piano solo or accompany yourself while singing? I’ll guide you through chord progressions, textures, and arranging ideas to help you play more freely and expressively.
