My aim, always, is to work individually with students, identifying specific requirements and goals in a one-off session or, where required, a series of sessions. I very much believe in creating a secure, creative and engaging relationship with students first and foremost enabling them to develop their skills and ways of working that will challenge, excite and further their ambitions purposefully to achieve successful outcomes whether in acting, drama school auditions, preparing roles, approaches to text, building a character, speaking in public, speaking verse and prose, devising drama, improvisation, developing confidence and self-esteem, LAMDA examinations, GCSE Drama/Performing Arts, 'A' level Drama and Theatre Studies exams. I very much look forward to working with you!

Colin was my Drama teacher at high school and coached me through my GCSE's. The drama course was the most memorable, and that was due to Colin's extremely engaging delivery. He challenged me, respected me, and ensured that I had all the tools I needed to succeed even though drama was certainly not a subject that I naturally excelled in.
He was my favourite teacher and the only one that I have kept in touch with to this day.
Colin is a respectful, person who empathizes and listens deeply while challenging you to be the best you can be. His teaching transformed me from an shy young teen to a confident man. I still use the tools that Colin gave me in my professional career to deliver pitches to investors, to motivate my team, and to lead.
I highly recommend Colin.I have known Colin for over half my life. He has been a teacher, mentor, and friend and I would not be the person or theatre professional I am today without his guidance and support.
Colin has a unique approach to teaching that is easily tailored to the needs of each student. That teaching style gave me the skills and confidence to not only excel in my GCSE’s, but achieve an A* in my A Level Theatre Studies class. In fact, I can say with confidence that Colin’s method gave me the tools to succeed in all of my A Level classes.
Outside the classroom, Colin was an inspiring leader as the head of our semi-professional theatre troupe, InYerSpace Theatre Co. During my tenure with InYerSpace, Colin inspired true creativity, showing us through analysis of the text, that the possibilities of a piece of theatre are endless be you actor, director, or designer. Colin taught me to craft moments and appreciate detailed and nuanced work. I carry those lessons into my lighting designs even now. Because of Colin, I feel confident working with directors and designers from all schools of thought and walks of life.
You will be hard pressed to find a teacher more committed to the development of his students than Colin.
Kind regards,
Andrew Gray
Theatrical Lighting DeisgnerI have known and worked with Colin for many years now and I cannot recommend him highly enough. In Senior School, he taught me Drama and helped me to gain an A* at GCSE and A-level! He always encouraged me to follow my dreams whilst at school and without him, I don’t know if I would have got into Drama School.
Over the years, Colin has given me many amazing opportunities for which I am very grateful for; performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (three times!) and multiple other performance and audition opportunities! In rehearsals and acting sessions, Colin is a teacher that really allows you to express yourself and explore freely in the space without judgement. Colin is a splendid teacher and a splendid human being. Somebody you can trust. Somebody who can connect with you not only on a professional level but a personal one too. An absolutely wonderful teacher.’
Many thanks,
Amy ArmstrongI was lucky enough to have Colin as my secondary school drama teacher. Colin took me through both GCSE and A-Level Theatre Studies helping me to gain top marks in each. I was also a member of Colin’s theatre company “In Yer Space” for many years and was lucky enough to be involved in shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and other theatres and festivals around the UK. Without Colin’s guidance, I definitely would not be where or who I am today. His expertise helped me to get into Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London and ultimately upon graduating work in the West End and in other fantastic theatres and shows around the UK.
Colin’s teaching/directing helped me to understand the challenges and the joys of acting, he was always very realistic about how difficult the industry was but always encouraging of our goals. He gave us space to find our own way with the character, occasionally giving us an idea or asking a question to help us consider our character in a different way. Colin is certainly not an “acting by numbers” Director, his style is much more fun, creative and exploratory. From a very young age, he treated us as professionals, encouraged us to be curious about our characters, to play and take risks.
I would highly recommend Colin as a tutor. After ten years of working professionally in the industry, I still count many of the shows I worked on with Colin as the best and most fun that I’ve been involved in. I am forever grateful.I was a student of Colins for many years and I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in many of his professional theatre productions. Colin's methods in his teachings go way beyond what I had expected and as a result, the knowledge & understanding I have taken from him has shaped me on a personal level as well as my skills. One major factor is the confidence which I have gained which I never thought I would have.
Colin is highly respected by his students and associates. His professionalism & in-depth teachings are a force to be reckoned with and
I will always be grateful to him for what he has done for me.Colin is a fantastic teacher/tutor. I was lucky enough to be his student. I felt fully supported and equipped with the necessary skills to apply to and attend drama school. Colin is extemely knowledgeable in his field and his passion transpires to those around him. He is patient, supportive and kind. I highly recommend his services.
Having been tutored by and subsequently worked alongside Colin, I can whole heartedly recommend him.
His teaching experience is extensive and his approach is meticulous and adaptive.
Not only a first class educator, but an inspiration to all his pupils and colleagues.
Colin's practical experience is also second to none, having produced countless productions both academically and professionally over the course of his career.
Colin has also launched the careers of some well know actors. Most notably and recently, Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood) and Jenna Coleman (Dr Who, Victoria).
I have known and worked with Colin over 6 years now, and met him in his acting class when I was 14. He has not only helped me grow as an actor, but also as a person. Like a magician, he always has tricks up his sleeve which have helped transform the work we have done together. The work we have done together has always been collaborative, and never dictatorial. Colin's experience, wisdom and patience makes him one of the best!
Colin is a fantastic tutor and director and the very first teacher I had who understood scenes within the wider context of a play. He is patient, calm and grounded, has an excellent knowledge of stagecraft and never shies away from telling you his thoughts. Colin will endeavour to bring out the best performance possible from you and always gives the actor room to try new things to key into certain scenes.
