About Annabel

I am a Fine Art graduate currently working as an English Language Assistant. While volunteering as a tutor at Uni, I found that I enjoy sharing knowledge and helping people to learn new things. I have an 8 in GCSE maths and an A in a-level maths.
I have worked in a holiday camp for children aged 4-14 for 2 seasons where I ran a variety of sessions, including a science discovery class. I was responsible for groups of up to 30 children.

About the lesson

I think that it is important to set a goal at the start of tutoring so we know we're on the same page and so that you can measure your progress. From my own experience, I've found that a helpful starting point is working through past papers or previous tests. From this we can pin-point any difficult topics and then spend some time going over problems together. Once you feel more confident, you can take the lead with the problems, though I'll still be there to help if needed.

A typical lesson is 50mins to 1hour.

I got an A in Maths A-level and went on to study Fine Art at Newcastle University. While at Uni, I volunteered with a refugee organisation where I tutored English and Maths. While tutoring GCSE maths, I remembered my love for the subject and helping people understand tricky concepts. My students were often surprised that I wasn't a STEM student but I think that makes me an approachable and empathetic tutor as I remember what it felt like to find topics difficult.

My lessons are for KS3 and GCSE level maths, although I would be happy to adapt to younger students if required.

I have observed Annabel to be very hard working and conscientious. When she was at University she also acted as a Student Ambassador volunteer. She worked during her vacation as an Activity Leader for the Barracudas Activity Day Camps, teaching young children. She put time and effort into providing the kids with high quality care during the holidays.

As a Student she also took on additional courses to develop her skills like learning French.

I think Annabel would make an excellent Tutor, she would take time to understand her tutees and make sure that she helped them achieve their desired skills level.

I have no hesitation in recommending her.
