About Margherita
- What kind of experience do you have? My previous experience as a teacher is mostly in the private sector. I have been teaching in Italy and in London for more than ten years, giving individual and group classes of Spanish, English and Italian, with different aged students, from infants to adults and students with learning disabilities like dyslexia. I have also taught Spanish (all levels) and Italian (all levels) in small courses for a Language association and in a Private University in my native city. I have been examiner for GCSE and A-Level Italian exams for the past four years and examiner and trainer for Spanish for the past two years. I have experience in language academies here in London and I have been teaching here for the past 4 years. During these years I gained a great experience in how to create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, with a special attention to my student's needs and requests. My classes are conceived according to the student's needs, and I always try to keep the student's attention with a positive attitude. I am an Italian mother tongue but I am allowed to teach Spanish as well like a mother tongue as I am a C2 level Spanish speaker. I'm a highly experienced interpreter and translator as well, so I'm glad to give translation and interpretation classes. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Not yet, but on the process of getting one. Parents are very welcome to sit in on sessions with their children. - Where and with whom did you train? I obtained the CLTA qualification on 2013 following the International House training course with Ferruccio Pastore and Erica Cavagnoli as tutors. I obtained the GCSLTA qualification following the course of the Instituto Cervantes in London in 2015. - Tell me about some of your current students. I am preparing several students for their Spanish A-Levels and GCSES. I am conducting Italian courses for employees of Italian companies based here in London, teaching general and business Italian. I have 14 extra private students for general Italian and general Spanish. I am preparing a young boy for a B1 DELE certification. I am also preparing two students for the citizenship Italian exams CELI and CILS B1.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I have had weekly 1:1 lessons in Italian with Margherita for over two years and can wholeheartedly recommend her as a language teacher. The lessons are well structured and use various resources to keep them interesting - videos, books, songs, news items, etc - and they are challenging but achievable. The lessons are done in a very calm and relaxed way, no pressure. My understanding and knowledge of Italian have increased hugely during this time, and equally importantly I am much more confident in speaking Italian even if it may not be perfect. In summary I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with Margherita, I am making real progress and am happy to recommend her as a teacher.
I was told about Margherita by my next door neighbour. My son lives in Barcelona so I wanted to learn Spanish. Margherita has been teaching my neighbour Italian for the last five years - he's completely fluent. He told me that Margherita could also teach me Spanish. She is a wonderful teacher because she is intelligent, calm, patient and she has a nice sense of humour. I recommend her without hesitation.
You could not find a better teacher. She is understanding and gently guides and inspires your learning towards the level you aspire to tayloring lessons accordingly. I have know Margherita for over five years and her lessons are always a joy.
I've been learning Italian from Margherita since January 2014 (once a week). Her lessons are well-organised, fun, and challenging. From the very beginning Margherita made me feel comfortable speaking in Italian (I am pretty much a beginner), she is patient, funny, and generous. Margherita also adapts superbly to different learning and teaching situations (including when things are a bit busy for me at work). I recommend her without reservation.
Margherita's teaching is incredibly creative, she finds clever ways to play to the strengths of her pupils and work on their weaknesses, too. It's refreshing that we're not just working through a pre-packaged curriculum, like you do in a lot of language courses. Margherita works hard to create individual lesson plans which are challenging and fun, too. I thoroughly recommend her lessons!
I'm glad to express my appreciation for Miss Spanu, who gave Spanish classes to my 17 year daughter. She has been expert, efficient, punctual and meticulous. She reached unbelievable results with my daughter ( who suffer from dyslexia), revealing herself priceless, not just for the knowledge of language but from a psychological point of view as well.
She has a great relationship with the world of young people. She's responsible and offered us a quality service. We are very satisfied of her jobI was looking for a Spanish teacher because I needed private lessons to prepare me for an exam at the university.
I got the reccomendation to contact Margherita Spanu, who had already finished her study course.
We met weekly and she prepared me for my exame. She is a reliable and cooperative person.
She is a good teacher and knows how to explain to students in a comprehensible way.m glad to provide the best references to Miss Spanu who has been the teacher of my children, with Spanish and English.
She succeeded in catching their attention and goodwill, transmitting them a great interest for languages.
They took advantage from her lessons and company, regarding languages competence.
I completely recommend her, considering the excellent results obtained, thanks to her commitment, patience, and enthusiasm.I am a former student from Italy. Margherita was my private teacher for one year to prepare my Spanish test when I was at University. I learnt a lot thanks to her method. She taught me the language, the heritage and the history of Spain with very instructive and enjoyable conversations rather than simply explaining grammatical rules. She gave me the confidence to successfully pass the exam. Learning Spanish from her was an amazing experience.
