About Ethan
I completed an integrated master's degree in mathematics at Durham University, graduating with first class honours, and I'm now pursuing a PhD in applied mathematics at Leeds University. This background gives me a strong knowledge of pure maths, applied maths and statistics: from GCSE to university level. I've gained experience helping younger students and supporting peers at university, often explaining challenging ideas in a clear and accessible way. I'm enthusiastic about beginning formal tutoring, and I'm committed to helping students achieve their goals and feel more confident in their mathematical abilities.

My approach is to break down complex ideas into clear, manageable examples to make the concepts click. Once students have grasped the concept, I like to check their understanding by working through exam-style questions together, so they can build problem-solving skills and improve their confidence. I emphasise developing the ability to reason mathematically over merely memorising content. Lessons will typically be for one hour, but this is flexible, and are for students of all abilities.
