About Austin

Hey there! My name is Austin. I am passionate about education and youth empowerment and enjoy teaching and equipping students with knowledge. I am a master of science student specializing in environmental science and GIS. I have over three years of professional experience tutoring at a high school and university level, both locally and internationally. I always strive to make my students feel comfortable and confident in their abilities and tailor each lesson to an individual student's needs.

I am a mature, honest, reliable, and hardworking individual. I have excellent verbal and written communication skills,
allowing me to produce high-quality work. I always strive to be punctual and complete my work promptly while ensuring
my work is of a high standard. I have excellent interpersonal skills, work well with others in a team setting, and I also have
experience being in leadership roles, allowing me to work in high-pressure environments where deadlines need to be
met. I am able to time manage effectively. I am constantly looking for opportunities to learn, grow and develop my skills
in both a personal and professional capacity. Applying these skills allows me to fulfill my role as a tutor to the highest of my abilities.

In my spare time, I have volunteered for several organizations and been on several local and national committees. Over the years, I have successfully run virtual and in-person events to assist, educate, and further create opportunities for students involved in geographical/environmental studies and beyond. These events range from seminars/webinars and discussions on contemporary environmental issues, workshops, skills transfer sessions, networking opportunities for students with professionals, information sessions on internships, bursaries, work opportunities, and group and one-on-one tutoring.

About the lesson

I am a patient tutor who can make students comfortable and allow them to learn at their own pace while empowering them to be confident with their coursework and abilities.

Having also minored in educational psychology, I can tailor my lessons to each individual based on their unique learning abilities and styles.

My lessons range from high school level to university post-graduate level. I can tutor GIS and Remote sensing, Geography, Environmental Science/Management Biology, Life Science, Maths, English, Social Studies/Science, and general essay/assignment writing, including teaching different study methods for students from a beginner's level to more advanced levels. My lessons cover both practical and theoretical studies. I have formal professional experience as a tutor from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

I am well versed in both South African and International curriculums, having also tutored online for American and Canadian students.

I would like to recommend Austin as a biology tutor because Austin is one of the most enthusiastic and most passionate demonstrators. He has been my demonstrator for two years in a row and he has been doing an awesome job at it. He takes his time when explaining and ensures everyone understands I can safely say that Austin will be of great help to the children he’ll be tutoring because he always goes the extra mile to ensure that the work is submitted on time and marked fairly and he also ensures that good grades are met.

He is also very skilled and works well with people and is an amazing leader.
