About Nicole

Hello! I’m Nicole, a passionate tutor dedicated to helping students enhance their writing and grammar skills. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University, where I graduated magna cum laude. My interdisciplinary studies equipped me with a robust foundation in analytical writing and critical thinking.

With over five years of teaching and tutoring experience, I’ve worked with students of all ages, including elementary through college-level learners. In my recent role as an editor at the Eyre Writing Center, I provided personalized feedback on a variety of original writing pieces, ranging from creative works to informative essays, written by elementary and middle school students. My experience as a tutor for Amikka Test Prep allowed me to work with high school students, often providing assistance in reading comprehension and understanding of grammar rules in preparation for the SAT.

Beyond my tutoring experience, I have also honed my own writing skills throughout my college career. As a writer and editor for The Harvard Crimson, I mastered the art of clear, impactful communication while adhering to AP style. Additionally, my academic work culminated in a 110-page thesis based on original research, showcasing my ability to conduct in-depth analysis and present ideas effectively.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach centers on personalized, student-driven learning that fosters both skill development and confidence. I employ a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on exercises, interactive discussions, and targeted feedback, ensuring that each lesson is engaging and tailored to individual needs. A typical lesson plan begins with a brief assessment of the student’s current understanding, followed by focused practice on specific writing or grammar skills through lessons or an assignment the student may be currently working on, and concludes with constructive feedback to reinforce learning.

What sets me apart is my interdisciplinary background and experience working with diverse age groups, allowing me to adapt my techniques to suit each student, whether they’re in elementary school crafting creative pieces or college students refining their essays. My lessons cater to a wide range of learners, from those needing help with foundational skills to advanced students looking to polish their writing for academic success.
