About John
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and hold a double bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from Thompson Rivers University. I tutor high school mathematics and physics, as well as university-level calculus, linear algebra, and the core university-level physics courses. I also offer support in select engineering and chemistry courses.
My approach to tutoring is centered on understanding the concepts behind the problems. Rather than simply giving students the answer, I will guide you through the reasoning needed to find the answer yourself. I believe that developing a strong foundation is the key to becoming confident and independent in mathematics and physics.
I have worked with many students who struggle with algebra and other foundational skills that can make more advanced material difficult. When these gaps are identified, I work with students to address them while connecting those fundamentals to the material they are currently learning.
My teaching style is patient, analytical, relaxed, and adaptable. I use questions to encourage students to think through problems themselves, while providing detailed explanations when they need them. My goal is not only to help you improve your grades, but to give you the understanding and problem-solving skills you need to progress on your own.
I tutor because I enjoy helping people reach their goals and supporting them on a path toward reaching their full potential.

I offer completely impromptu lessons tailored to what you need to fully understand the difficult material as the lesson progresses. I help with high school and university-level math, typically in calculation-type classes. All levels of Physics are offered.
I can (and have previously) learn course material fast enough to help you with it. If I don't list a course but there are similarities to your course and the others I have helped with, then don't be afraid to ask if I can also help with your class.
