I am a second-year University student currently studying towards a mathematics degree at Simon Fraser University. I am working to become a high school teacher in the future.
I am accustomed to drawing diagrams and writing notes as I tutor. If I am given the student's current unit before the lesson, I am able to come prepared with handwritten notes, examples, and practice questions with a more structured lesson.
If the student is unable to give me a unit, I then usually end up creating the lesson as I go. The student would first present me with any questions they need explaining or past units they need a refresher on. Once that is done, I custom create questions, on the spot for the student to try, based on what I think their current level is, for practice.
Since I started tutoring in 2015, I have had at least 10 different students, all of whom were between grades 6 and 12. I have been able to raise each student's overall mark to compared to what they had previously.
I am offering sessions for $20 an hour with the first session, which I will use to evaluate the student's current abilities and skill level, offered for free and lasting however long the assessment takes.
I graduated from Burnsview Secondary School.
