About Amelie
Hi, I'm Amelie! I'm currently a math student at the University of Waterloo. I have been passionate about math education my entire life, and have been tutoring math both freelance and with organizations for 7+ years, in both English and Mandarin. I have experience with students of all ages (4 and up), and I am comfortable with all learning styles. I enjoy teaching a lot, and I like to spread my passion for math through it :)
I achieved a score of 5 in AP Calculus BC. I have also received awards in various math competitions. I scored in Group III in the Euclid Competition and have consistently made honour roll in all other Waterloo CEMC contests. I was invited to be a member of Team Canada in the EGMO and I have qualified to write the CMO and APMO.

My lessons are aimed at students preparing for any high school math contests at any level, or students wishing to learn any level of curriculum math up to a first-year university level.
My teaching philosophy is to build a strong base for a student's understanding of core concepts so that they can understand an idea inside and out. I like to approach topics from multiple different angles, including real-life application to solidify a student's understanding.
Upon request and based on a student's preferences, I can also provide lesson plans or notes to review ahead of time. I also provide practice problems and help outside of class time, should a request be urgent. These may incur additional fees that will always be discussed ahead of time—I will never charge for something that wasn't agreed upon.
