About Dilan

I have graduated with a First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. This course was heavily Maths and Physics based hence I have strengthened my fundamentals learnt in A Levels and GCSE making myself confident in teaching at these levels.

Having been through education and understanding how difficult learning can be, I always try to share my knowledge with individuals. This can be shown by my experience of helping younger students in my community with their studies. I enjoy helping students succeed by strengthening their understanding of core content, supplemented by relevant learning techniques so they are able to apply themselves to tackle assessments with ease and confidence.

Attending a disadvantaged state school, I would often find myself helping people who needed support and those who could not get teachers' attention; this took place both formally and informally. Upon the completion of my GCSE’s and A Level’s I continued to tutor secondary school students. After completing my first year of my degree, I wanted to share my university experience therefore I decided to enrol as an academic mentor at Imperial College London Global Summer School. This programme was designed to welcome younger prospective students from all around the world from different backgrounds to the university. As a mentor, I assisted lecturers in delivering university style education to prospective students enabling me to teach students new skills and knowledge. Furthermore, I was able to give students an insight on how great university life would be and answer any queries they had; whether it be academic/non academic to help them with the transition into higher education. I believe this experience can allow me to deliver professional and understandable education to students helping them with their needs and targeting their weaknesses.

About the lesson

Each lesson delivered will be tailored to the student needs whether they be a visual learner or a student who learns through examples or whether they have topics they want to prioritise as they are causing difficulties. This being said, even though each lesson will differ all will aim to strengthen the underlying concepts of the syllabus so that the student can confidently answer exam style questions on their own by the end of each lesson. Furthermore each lesson will include a variety of techniques and tricks the student can use for their own revision and approach to questions.
