About Kenta

A Magician and a Mathematician, hence the silly portmanteau. I studied Mathematics and Computer Science at University and spent a vast majority of my youth performing close up magic. My early career I worked as a Technical Support Analyst, spending my days diagnosing computing issues and teaching users how to get the best out of their software. Since then, I have branched out to follow my passions as a Magician, and supplement my living as a Tutor (as the entertainment industry is a difficult path). I believe that Magic has made me a much better teacher. You can make music, poetry and art for yourself, but it is impossible to perform magic to yourself. Thus, only through empathy with the audience are we able to perform, and these skills are very transferable to tutoring; the ability to understand our students' ability and thought process and to help nudge them to come to the correct conclusions themselves to learn. So whether you want to learn the useful and highly sought after skills in Mathematics and/or Computer Science, or you are looking to expand your performance in Magic, I am looking forwards to helping you on your journey. As part of the recruitment process, I had to do a maths aptitude test. I wasn't feeling confident as it had been quite some time since I had done maths; therefore I approached Kenta to do some tutoring. He was absolutely brilliant in understanding the types of questions I had to master and making sure that I "understood the maths" as opposed just "doing the motions". He was very patient and identified areas where I had some weaknesses on which we worked on. Following Kenta's tutoring I felt more confident approaching the test.
