When approached by a student who has a question, I like to get an understanding of how they think about the concepts in a subject, and try to help them by explaining and teaching in a way the student thinks and is comfortable with. I emphasize creating a "toolkit" of concepts and problem solving strategies that the student can use to be able to solve problems. I also try to categorize problems, so that the student can recognize which category an unfamiliar question might belong to and know which strategies might be useful in solving it.
I'm a first year undergrad student in McGill University's Biological, Biomedical, and Life Sciences program. I peer tutored for three years in high school, and I really enjoyed my time helping other students. I had the third highest average in my grade, and took multiple AP courses and exams, including Biology, which I got a 5 on.
