About Mai
I believe good tutoring is as much about personality as it is about knowledge, and I try to bring warmth, patience, and genuine enthusiasm into every session. I'm an avid reader and always have a book on the go, alongside a genuine passion for travel and learning about different cultures. Exploring new places has given me a broader perspective and a real appreciation for different ways of thinking and problem-solving.
I have a strong love of problem-solving, from tackling technical challenges to finding the right way to help a student understand a tricky topic. Watching that understanding click into place is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me.
I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

My approach is student-led: I start by identifying where a student feels confident and where they're struggling, then build lessons around closing those gaps rather than following a rigid script. For Maths and Physics, I focus on breaking problems down step-by-step so students understand the "why", not just the method. For English, I focus on structure, analysis, and exam technique. Lessons typically run 45–60 minutes. I hold an MEng in Mechanical Engineering and strong A-Levels in Maths, Physics, and English Literature, and I tutor GCSE-level students.
