About Dr MAB

Hello and welcome to my page! I’m Professor MAB, and I have over 10 years of experience teaching Mechanical Engineering at university and college levels. All of my degrees, including my PhD, are in Mechanical Engineering, with additional interdisciplinary experience in Civil, Aerodynamics, Environmental, Electrical, and Building Engineering. Beyond my extensive teaching background, I bring a strong practical, real-world perspective to the classroom through my experience in industry and research. Notable roles include working as an automotive product-development engineer at KSR International in Ridgetown, ON, and as a research associate at the National Research Council (NRC), Aerospace portfolio in Ottawa, ON. I have also been the recipient of multiple academic scholarships and awards, and I am the author of over 30 publications including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters.

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy centers on getting students excited about the subject and guiding them through an active learning process. I aim to create a strong foundation that fosters lifelong learning, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving skills. I implement these principles through thoughtful lesson preparation and engaging delivery, while consistently connecting abstract concepts to tangible, real-world applications and demonstrations. At the beginning of the first class, I assess students’ prior knowledge in order to tailor the lesson delivery accordingly. My classes are conducted online using a high-quality webcam and microphone, and I share my screen while annotating lecture notes to facilitate an interactive, “live” learning experience. I also assign in-class problems and review students’ work in real time to ensure the learning process is effective. I use several examples designed to reinforce the concepts introduced in each lesson. With these examples, I walk students through problem-solving techniques step by step, helping bridge the gap between theory and practical application and building confidence in applying the methods to real engineering and scientific problems.
