About James

I am a determined individual with a great interest in I.T and Media. I studied at Birkbeck University where I achieved my Level 4 Cert HE. I have also achieved a Diploma in Education and Training at CWC, which has provided me with valuable teaching experience and professional development opportunities. I relish the challenges teaching brings and enjoy using technology in the classroom. My experience in the media department at Carshalton and CONEL College has provided me with opportunities to develop my skills and knowledge base further. My efforts were recognised with an award for “innovation in teaching” and Grade 1 lesson observations. In my spare time, I enjoy programming, game making, reading books, baking, and socialising with my friends. I enjoy meeting new people and learning from others wherever possible. I also enjoy 3D model creation and printing, animation, and game design.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring and teaching is rooted in creating an interactive and supportive learning environment. I believe in fostering a dynamic learning environment where students are actively involved in their learning journey. I am very experienced in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I utilise a variety of techniques to make lessons engaging and effective. This includes differentiating lessons based on learners' individual needs, embedding core skills into lessons and providing an appropriate level of challenge for learners. Typical Lesson Length is 1 1/2 hours. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training from City of Westminster College, which has provided me with valuable teaching experience and professional development opportunities. I also have a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Information Technology from Birkbeck, University of London. My professional experience includes roles as a Media Lecturer, Media Animation and Games Lecturer, and Team Leader for Creative Industries/Media Teacher, and Pastoral Tutor at institutions such as New City College, South Essex College, CONEL College, and Carshalton College. My experience spans from 2018 to 2023. I have consistently received Grade 1 lesson observations. My experience covers teaching a wide range of levels, including Level 1 Diploma Media (BTEC), Level 2 Media (BTEC and UAL), Level 3 Extended Media (BTEC and UAL), Level 1 Music (UAL), Level 1 Diploma in Vocational Studies, and specific IT and web design software courses. I am well-versed in teaching students across various stages of their educational journey in media, from introductory to advanced levels.

James is a funny, kind and supporting person who always know what best for his students as well. We learnt about photoshop, phototogphy, Office 365, HTML/CSS coding for a website and much more. After my course I went on to do an internship where I was picked by a recruiter for a watch company who needed someone to help them code a website.
