About Sharmeen

I'm friendly, approachable and patient in the way that I teach. I recognise the struggle of not being able to understand a tricky concept and I want to help others overcome this! I personally found that during secondary school, content was either poorly explained, and/or you were expected to memorise content as opposed to understanding and applying it (which is crucial to success!). I want to change this for students and give them the knowledge and confidence that they need to master their subjects. I also want to be a means of motivation for students- I know that sometimes, studies can be hard to focus on, so having that extra push can make a big difference to your academic progress!

About the lesson

I have a passion for teaching and my aim is to help students, like yourselves, flourish academically. I can teach at any level, up to and including A Level. As a tutor and current medical student, I have invaluable experience with exams, revision and all kinds of applications. Having attended a grammar school as a child, and achieved top grades at GCSE and A Level (not too long ago!) as well as an Undergraduate Diploma in Biomedical Science, I am confident in my ability to pass on knowledge and advice. My 11+, 13+ and 16+ performances have landed me not only places in independent schools, but also scholarships. My teaching style is mixed and can be tailored to whatever suits you. I prefer to be interactive with my students, so a lot of the way I teach involves explanations to bridge any learning gaps, followed by reinforcement of knowledge and using exam questions to test understanding. I also assign homework to ensure students are confident with the material. I have a range of tutoring experience, both in-person and online. This ranges from tutoring family and friends informally, to teaching small, focused group tuition, to one-on-one tuition. I currently tutor privately online and also tutor in-person at ACE Education Academy. My specialties are tutoring in English, mathematics and science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at Key Stages 1-5.
