About Yesleen
I’m a medical student with a deep appreciation for both academic excellence and genuine understanding. Medicine is a demanding field that has taught me how essential effective learning strategies are — not just to pass exams, but to truly retain and apply knowledge when it matters most. Throughout my studies, I’ve relied heavily on techniques like active recall and spaced repetition, especially using tools like Anki, to master complex information. These strategies transformed the way I learn, and I want to help others experience the same shift — from memorising to truly understanding. I teach because I know how overwhelming certain subjects can feel, especially when students aren’t sure how to approach them. As someone who’s worked through those challenges, I’m in a unique position to guide others — not just with content, but with how to learn effectively. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to share what I’ve learned, help students build confidence, and make academic success feel more achievable and less stressful.

My tutoring approach focuses on achieving better academic results while ensuring students build a deep understanding of the material. I believe that genuine learning goes beyond memorisation — it’s about truly grasping concepts so they can be applied confidently and flexibly in different contexts. To support this, I incorporate active recall techniques, often using tools like Anki to reinforce knowledge over time. I help students engage with material actively rather than passively rereading or highlighting. This method not only improves retention but also develops their ability to retrieve and apply information under pressure, such as in exams. Each session is tailored to the student’s specific goals and problem areas. I focus on identifying key gaps, simplifying complex ideas, and building from foundational concepts upward. While grades are a clear priority, I also aim to strengthen students’ confidence and ability to learn independently — so that long after our sessions, they continue to improve on their own.
