About Yama
Hi, I'm Yama. I'm an aspiring medical student with a passion for Maths, Chemistry and helping others achieve their academic goals. Throughout my education, I have consistently worked hard to achieve strong results, and I've developed a genuine enjoyment for explaining challenging concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand way.
My interest in tutoring began through helping my mum prepare for her GCSE Maths exam, where she went on to achieve a Grade 5 despite having very little previous mathematical knowledge. I've also volunteered to teach Maths to groups of children, which has helped me develop patience, clear communication and the ability to adapt my explanations to different learning styles.
I believe every student is capable of succeeding with the right support. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to build confidence, encourage independent thinking and create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, as I believe everyone learns at a different pace and has different strengths and areas for improvement. I begin by identifying any gaps in understanding before explaining concepts using clear, step-by-step methods that are easy to follow.
Once a topic has been understood, we reinforce it through practice questions, exam-style questions and past paper exercises to develop both subject knowledge and exam technique. Throughout the lesson, I encourage students to ask questions in a supportive, pressure-free environment where making mistakes is seen as part of the learning process.
My aim is not only to improve grades but also to build confidence, so that students feel comfortable tackling questions independently both in lessons and in their exams. Lessons are personalised to each student's goals, whether they are looking to secure a pass or achieve the highest grades.
