About Sarah
Setting the tempo for a practice session requires a balance between rigorous technical drilling and creative musical exploration. I provide recorded playback of tricky passages for home practice to ensure that every intermediate learner catches their mistakes before they become habits.
Orchestral playing techniques require a different mindset than solo work, which I emphasize through specific exercises. Because I hold an MMus, I maintain high expectations for tone production and bowing control in every session. Kids often find the physical demands of the instrument easier when we break them down into bite-sized rhythmic goals. We take things one measure at a time until the music flows.

Music exists because we need to express what words cannot contain. It is rarely the notes themselves that create beauty but the spaces between them. My training at the Conservatoire de Montréal and MMus from Schulich School of Music define my technical perspective.
I have taught 391 students over 13 years, seeing many kids grow into confident performers. Every student discovers that rhythm and timing are the heartbeat of any composition. My teaching integrates these classical foundations with a focus on tone production and double stops. I support performance-focused students by preparing them for ABRSM and Trinity grade exams.
Having deep musical roots allows me to teach the violin with clarity and authority. I am ready to help you refine your craft.
