About Salma
I am an AI engineer working on production systems, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at Multimedia University. I hold an MSc in Information Technology specializing in AI, and a degree in Software Engineering awarded with First Class Honors. My research has been published and presented at international conferences.
My own route through math ran from IGCSE Pure Math to A-Level Mathematics, covering calculus, matrices, vectors and statistics. Statistics stayed with me — I studied it again at degree level and I rely on it in my research now. Math stopped being an exam subject for me a long time ago and became something I use, which changes how I explain it.
I teach because I keep meeting people who decided early on that they were not math people. Usually that is not true. Usually something went unexplained years ago and everything built on top of it quietly stopped making sense. That gap is almost always findable and almost always fixable.
I take teaching seriously. I prepare for sessions, I keep to scheduled times, and I will tell you honestly if a topic falls outside what I can teach well rather than improvising through it.

I teach IGCSE and SPM Math, A-Level Pure Math and Statistics, and university-level Statistics and Discrete Mathematics. I also teach the mathematics behind machine learning — gradients, the chain rule, matrix operations and probability distributions — for computer science and data science students who understand the code but not what sits underneath it.
Who these lessons are for
Secondary school students from around age fourteen through to university undergraduates. That covers IGCSE and SPM candidates, A-Level and Foundation students, and degree-level students taking Statistics, Discrete Math or machine learning modules. Adults returning to study are welcome too.
How I teach
My approach is diagnostic rather than repetitive. In the first session I work through problems with you to find where the understanding actually breaks, because a student stuck on integration is often really stuck on algebraic manipulation three steps earlier. Fixing the root cause is faster than drilling the symptom.
I teach by working through problems together rather than lecturing. You attempt, I watch where the reasoning goes wrong, and we correct it in the moment. Sessions are active — you should expect to be doing most of the work while I guide it.
For exam subjects we work through past papers with attention to how marks are actually awarded, not just the final answer. Method marks matter, and students lose them unnecessarily.
Lesson length
One hour as standard, or ninety minutes for exam preparation where working through a full paper is useful. All lessons are online.
My background as a teacher
I currently teach UI/UX design at a private academy, delivering structured lessons to students who often arrive with no background in the subject. Academically I hold an MSc in AI and I am a PhD candidate at Multimedia University, so I work with mathematical material daily in my own research.
