About Elizabeth
Hello! My name is Elizabeth Coton and I am an experienced and passionate violinist eager to nurture a sense of joy and dedication for music through dedicated and fun violin lessons for all ages. Music is at the heart of humanity, connecting people through creativity. So, whether you're looking to begin your musical journey, or want to develop your technique, I am available to provide guidance and encouragement to help you achieve your goals and grow your musicianship. I will provide 30 minutes-1 hour individual lessons tailored to your goals, focusing on technique, expression, and theory. I am friendly and patient and want to encourage a love and enjoyment for making music whilst you achieve your targets. Offers 30 minute-1 hour lessons working through the ABRSM curriculum to develop outstanding practical abilities on the violin whilst fostering a substantial understanding of music theory. For beginners, I will lay the groundwork of the fundamental techniques using books such as 'Technique Takes Off!'. We will also work through the 'Fiddle Time' books by Kathy and David Blackwell, encouraging a sense of achievement and pride in our performance as the student learns familiar tunes. For intermediate and advanced students, I will cater to the individual's levels and musical preferences, whether this involves completing grades or developing skills within particular styles such as baroque. I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate and have previous experience tutoring young people. I have an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Cardiff University and have played the violin for 15 years to Grade 8. I have also achieved Grade 5 music theory and Grade 5 piano. Music is at the heart of everything I do and I look forward to helping advance your/your child's musical journey!
