About Alfie
As a guitar tutor with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music, I am passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals while developing skill and confidence. I start with essential techniques such as posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone, progressing to improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is taught through practical applications, helping students understand and use concepts creatively. Each lesson is personalized to the student’s pace, goals, and learning style, ensuring a motivating and engaging environment. I emphasize expressive playing, artistic freedom, and performance confidence alongside technical proficiency. Ear training, sight-reading, and improvisation are integral parts of my teaching. Students explore multiple genres, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop, to broaden musical understanding. Structured practice routines, constructive feedback, and guidance help learners overcome challenges and stay on track. I celebrate milestones and encourage perseverance, patience, and dedication.
