About Sarah
Hi! I'm Sarah. I'm a music producer, singer and songwriter. I've been making and performing electronic music across Canada since I was a teenager. I studied Electroacoustics and Composition at the University of Concordia.
I started Sounds Good Channel on YouTube in response to what I felt was missing from institutional music education: inclusivity and an awareness/appreciation for music that is actually being made now. I've made videos on technical sound/music topics, like timbre and music notation, and on lesser known key figures in music history, like Wendy Carlos and Julius Eastman.
I am an active member of the Montreal music community and I release music composed, produced and performed entirely by me as Sarah Feldman.
I strive to make modern music education accessible to everyone. If you're looking for an alternative to music school, I might be the teacher for you!

Making a sound recording used to take 10 or even 20 people, each with a different job. Now a finished song can be made by just one person on the computer!
I help my students develop a highly diverse skill set with 10 key abilities: Synthesis & Sound Design, Drum Programming & Timing, Melody Writing, Lyric Writing, Vocal Production, Music Theory, Recording, Mixing, Arrangement, and Creative Practices.
Lessons are customized to the needs and interests of each student. The key abilities listed above give the lessons structure, while allowing flexibility to account for the diverse backgrounds of each student and the intuitive nature of making music.
My lessons are for anyone who makes music on the computer or who wants to learn how. A typical session involves giving feedback on works in progress, or composing new works together.
Creative practices are highly personal, so I prioritize making a space where students feel safe to express themselves freely. Beyond developing skills, I strive to help people build confidence and trust in their innate creative abilities.
