About Ciara

I grew up in a Gaeltacht and spent my teen years as a monitor in Coláiste na hOileáin. I have always believed it is important to keep the language alive, but more importantly I understand the difficulties that come with learning a language in a flawed system like the leaving cert. My main aim for these grinds is to help students with their exams and hopefully ensure they don’t leave school wishing to never speak Irish again.

About the lesson

With Irish as my first language I believe I would be able to help students mainly with their Irish orals. Helping them speak the language in a way that sounds natural and not rehearsed. I also believe I could help with essays and grammar giving them plenty of nathanna cainte that would be unique to Connemara. Whilst studying for the leaving cert I believe it is important to focus in on one dialect of the Irish language and to stick with it. This makes the language easier to understand.
