About Shari
Hi! I’m Shari, a native English speaker from Montreal and fully bilingual in French.
I hold an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) as well as a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and I’ve been tutoring children, teenagers, and adults for several years.
My academic background has given me extensive experience with reading, writing, research, argumentation, and clear communication, which I can also bring into lessons for students who want help with academic writing, essays, presentations, or professional English.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping someone reach the point where English starts to feel less intimidating. A student may understand a lot but hesitate to speak, struggle with grammar at school, or know what they want to say but not how to express it naturally. I enjoy breaking those difficulties down into something more manageable.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and non-judgmental. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes rather than worrying about being perfect.
Being bilingual in English and French also gives me an advantage when working with French-speaking learners, because I understand many of the differences between the two languages and can switch to French when an explanation would be clearer that way.
I work with students of different ages and backgrounds, from children who need school support to adults who want stronger English for work, travel, or everyday communication.
My goal is not simply to correct your English, but to help you understand it, become more independent, and feel genuinely comfortable using it.

My lessons are focused on helping you communicate more naturally and confidently in English.
Rather than only memorizing grammar rules, we work on the skills you actually use in real life: speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and understanding how English is naturally expressed.

I especially like helping students who understand English but have difficulty finding the right words, forming their thoughts quickly, or feeling comfortable speaking. We can work on expanding your vocabulary and turning passive knowledge into language you can actually use.
For writing, I can help you organize your ideas, improve clarity, choose more natural vocabulary, and express yourself more effectively, whether for school, work, or everyday communication.
For reading and listening, we can use real-world material adapted to your level and work on understanding meaning, context, tone, and new vocabulary rather than simply translating word for word.
Lessons are always adapted to your level and goals. Some students prefer mostly conversation, while others want a balanced mix of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Because I’m fully bilingual in French, I can also explain difficult concepts in French when helpful, especially for beginners or French-speaking students.
My goal is to help you move beyond simply “knowing English” and become more comfortable actually using it to communicate.
