About Elina
I am a Finnish native speaker, born and raised in Finland, who currently resides in the UK. I have deep passion for language learning as well as getting to share the Finnish language and culture with others.
While I agree with the importance of grammar in learning a new foreign language (I myself have learnt three foreign languages on top of Finnish, and am able to emphatize with the struggle), I find that surrounding one self with media, culture and history of the language helps with keeping that spark for learning alive, and deepens your knowledge of the language. Hence, I enjoy linking topics with films, books, music and videos!

In our lessons we can either focus on a chosen curriculum and work with a text-book (eg. Suomen Mestari - series) or just help you advance your conversational skills focusing on topics which interest you. Learning Finnish interactively provides a solid way to grasp the difference between spoken and written Finnish, while focusing on a textbook might provide you better overlook on grammar.
My tutoring sessions are generally more suitable for more advanced speakers who already have a grasp of the basics, but if you are a complete beginner, my tutoring sessions can work great as an additional support for your other teaching. I have appropriate materials for all ages and levels, so I am sure that we will be able to find a path to the "Finnish" line that works perfectly for you!
