About Ghyshan

Learning a new language should feel encouraging, engaging, and rewarding. As a native French speaker with graduate-level training in teaching and behavioral psychology, I bring both language expertise and a student-centered approach to every lesson.

I understand that every learner is different. Some students need additional support with grammar and writing, while others want to become more comfortable speaking and understanding French in everyday situations. I take the time to understand each student's goals, strengths, and areas for improvement so that our lessons are personalized and productive.

I offer instruction in both Canadian French and European French, and I can provide academic support aligned with the Ontario/Canadian curriculum. Whether you're a student preparing for a test, a parent looking for additional French support for your child, a university student, or an adult learning French for personal or professional reasons, I adapt my teaching to your needs.

My lessons are conducted in a patient, respectful, and judgment-free environment where questions are always welcome and mistakes are treated as an important part of learning. I want students to leave each lesson feeling that they have learned something valuable and are becoming more confident in their ability to communicate in French.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach

I believe French is best learned through a combination of structured instruction, real conversation, repetition, and confidence-building. As a native French speaker with graduate-level training in teaching and behavioral psychology, I tailor each lesson to the student's individual goals, learning style, level, and pace.

My approach combines the structure of the Ontario/Canadian curriculum with practical French that students can use in real-life situations. Depending on your goals, lessons may include speaking, listening comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and conversational practice.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

Each lesson is personalized, but a typical session may include:

1. Quick review: We revisit previous material and identify anything that needs additional practice.

2. New learning: I introduce new vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, or communication skills based on your goals.

3. Guided practice: We work through exercises together so you can apply the new concepts with support.

4. Conversation & real-world practice: We use French in practical situations to develop natural communication skills and confidence.

5. Feedback & next steps: I provide constructive feedback, clarify areas that need improvement, and identify what to practice before our next lesson.

For students following the Ontario/Canadian curriculum, I can also structure lessons around their schoolwork, assignments, tests, presentations, reading comprehension, writing, and course requirements.

What Sets Me Apart

My background in behavioral psychology and teaching allows me to look beyond simply teaching vocabulary and grammar. I pay attention to how each student learns, where they struggle, and what helps them retain and apply new information.

I focus on creating a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and practicing French out loud. My goal is not simply to help you memorize French—it is to help you understand it, use it, and become confident communicating in it.

As a native French speaker, I can also help students develop a more natural understanding of pronunciation, expressions, vocabulary, and everyday communication in both Canadian French and European French.
