About Roxane
I am a 26 years old graduate student with a bachelor in graphic design, a bachelor in political science and currently pursuing a masters degree in anthropology. I have lived in Brussels, Belgium for my whole life - a multicultural urban center in which I have had the chance to speak French daily with new learners and newcomers. I came to Edmonton to study at the University of Alberta (at the Faculty of Native Studies) and fell in love with the place and its people!
I have two years of experience in tutoring students of various ages and backgrounds, both in individual and group settings. Besides, I have been working with children for more than 8 years as a summer camp coordinator and have thus developed strong communication skills as well as a deep willingness and ability to connect with different people.

I start by assessing the needs of my students, working in close collaboration with the people involved in their learning, if any (such as parents, partners, teachers). From then, we co-create objectives, a planned timeline and the curriculum and core methods we will follow. Through one-on-one tutoring sessions, I get the chance to foster a keen awareness of my students’ ways of learning and to develop a caring, safe and positive learning environment tailored to each student personality and skill level.
I try my best to foster their fluency in French and self-confidence speaking the language through a systemic pedagogic approach that combines not only technical training but also playful exercises targeting their own interests and pace of learning. Each class builds up on the previous one by starting with a short quiz in order to ensure strength and continuity throughout the lessons. My goal is to become unnecessary to my students! Through developing strategies and good study habits, I thrive to nurture everyone’s autonomy in their learning journey.
My tutoring aims to not only expand your speaking, reading, writing skills in French but also to contextualize this knowledge: I will happily provide a range of information and background to better understand the French-speaking community across the world. I can teach students exactly where they are at right now, whether they just started to learn or they want to practice conversation with a native speaker.

Roxane was giving prive lessons to my son Raphael (15) during last year. Raphael is in European school in Brussels, he needed support for his English lessons but also for all other courses in English such as Geography or History.
