About Nathalie

A little about me

Bonjour! I’m a 43-year-old native French speaker, born and raised in Cagnes-sur-Mer, a beautiful town on the French Riviera and the place where the famous painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir spent the final years of his life.

My academic and professional journey has taken me quite far from the French Riviera. I studied at Manchester Business School, where I earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). I then spent more than 10 years working as a private banker, an experience that taught me a great deal about communication, relationships, listening, and understanding people.

In 2020, I decided to take a new direction and move into the academic world. I joined the University of Nice in France as a project manager, where I discovered the fascinating environment of higher education.

It was there that I was given the opportunity to teach English at university level. I taught students from very different backgrounds and at several schools, including the Law School, Technology School, Business School, and Cinema School, among others.

And then I thought: Why not teach French too? It's my native language!

So, in 2020, I started teaching French online.

Since then, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from all over the world — from Texas to Kyiv, Moscow to Beijing, Hong Kong to Switzerland, London, Italy, Spain and Iran. I have taught students of all ages, from 7 years old to adults, and from complete beginners to advanced French speakers.

What I have loved most throughout this experience is the relationship I build with my students.

I have been incredibly impressed by their curiosity, determination, consistency, and genuine desire to learn.

And I believe that the fact that my students enjoy coming to class while also seeing themselves improve says a lot about the way I teach.

For me, teaching French isn't simply about conjugation tables and vocabulary lists. It is about creating a relationship, building confidence, having fun, and giving students the feeling that they are actually using the language rather than simply studying it.

After several years of teaching students around the world, I have decided to take the next step and expand my teaching to students in the United States.

I would love to help you discover not only the French language, but also the culture, humor, art, traditions, and everyday way of life that make French so special.

About the lesson

Learn French, Speak French, Enjoy French

As a native French speaker, I offer online French lessons adapted to you, your goals, your personality, and the way you learn best.

Whether you are starting from scratch, want to become more comfortable speaking, need help with a test, or simply want to reconnect with the French language and culture, we will build the lessons around you.

What does a typical lesson look like?

For a regular one-hour lesson, we usually divide our time into three parts:

️ Conversation & speaking — about 20 minutes
We talk! You get the opportunity to express yourself naturally while I listen, correct your mistakes, and help you find more accurate and natural ways to say things. The goal is not simply to "know" French, but to feel comfortable using it.

Your goals & areas to improve — about 20 minutes
We work on what matters most to you: grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, specific difficulties, schoolwork, professional French, or anything else we have identified together.

Interactive activities & games — about 20 minutes
Learning doesn't have to feel like studying. We use interactive exercises and games to practice what you have learned, keep the lesson dynamic, and make French memorable.

But there is no "one-size-fits-all" lesson.

If you have a specific goal, test, interview, presentation, or exam, we can dedicate the entire lesson to preparing for it.

Preparing for a timed exam? We can even compete against each other, with you working under the same time constraints and challenges you will face on the day.

French is more than a language

I also love bringing French culture into my lessons.

Depending on your interests, we can explore French art, cinema, music, food, history, everyday life, social codes, expressions, and those little French habits that don't necessarily appear in a textbook.

Before anything else, I want to connect with my students.

What do you like? What motivates you? What are you interested in? What makes learning easier—or harder—for you?

I adapt my teaching style to the person sitting on the other side of the screen. Some students need structure and repetition. Others learn through conversation, challenges, stories, visual material, or games. We find what works for you.

My goal is not simply to teach you French for one hour.

My goal is to help you want to speak French, feel comfortable making mistakes, understand the culture behind the language, and see your progress.
