About Marin

I am a native Japanese speaker currently pursuing my postgraduate studies at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Prior to relocating to Perth, I built a solid professional career in a corporate setting in Japan. This background instilled in me a rigorous standard of professionalism, punctuality, and clear communication—qualities I bring to every tutoring session.

Having navigated the rigorous path of mastering a second language myself (achieving an IELTS score of 7.5 and designing my own language learning materials), I possess a profound empathy for the challenges adult learners face. I know firsthand how intimidating language acquisition can be.

Why do I teach? My fundamental objective is to cultivate a sense of psychological security for my students. I strive to create a structured, supportive, and completely judgment-free environment where you feel entirely comfortable making mistakes. I am passionate about empowering adults to connect with the Japanese language without unnecessary stress or apprehension.

My pedagogical approach is structured yet adaptable. I utilize a bilingual methodology: I leverage my fluent English to provide logical, analytical breakdowns of complex Japanese grammar and vocabulary. This eliminates confusion and cognitive overload. Once the framework is clear, we transition into practical speaking exercises in Japanese. I prioritize creating a psychologically safe environment where you can make mistakes without hesitation.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and focuses heavily on output and real-world application, utilizing established textbooks if desired.

My qualifications & target audience:
I am a native Japanese speaker and a postgraduate student at UWA. Before relocating to Perth, I worked in a professional corporate environment in Japan and have hands-on experience creating language learning materials. Holding an IELTS score of 7.5, I can facilitate nuanced explanations effortlessly in English.

Target Audience: My lessons are strictly designed for adults (18+), from absolute beginners to intermediate learners.
Please note: I do not provide high school ATAR tutoring, allowing me to dedicate my focus entirely to adult learners.
