About Maiko
I am Maiko, and I am a native Japanese speaker who is currently doing a Master of Education in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) at the University of Wollongong. I used to tutor Japanese in Japan and have been tutoring Japanese in Wollongong aside from my studies. I have also been working as an assistant teacher (volunteer) at Smith's Hill high school to mainly help year 12 students for their HSC. I have a Teaching Certificate (English/secondary school in Japan) and have 2 years of experience working at high schools in Japan. I'm cleared to work with children in NSW.

I usually tutor at the University of Wollongong Library.

Starter/beginner students
I can teach Japanese from basics such as hiragana, katakana, and easy kanji. I also can teach basic conversions such as self-introductions, greetings, and useful phrases for travelling. My lesson will also be a great option for you before travelling if you want to use some Japanese in Japan or are worried about travelling. The lesson can be created with your interest and purpose. Please feel free to discuss the lesson.
Intermediate - advanced students
I usually use the Genki textbook for intermediate and advanced students. If you have your own textbook you want to use in the lesson, feel free to bring it and discuss the lesson. I can also help you achieve your goals, such as passing HSC, JLPT and JET (The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme), etc.
