About Danica

With a background in counseling, education, and consulting, during the last 3 years, I’ve supported over 50 students in reaching their Japanese learning goals, ranging from JLPT preparation to job interviews and university applications in Japan. My students include college learners, working professionals, and heritage speakers, and I tailor each lesson to fit your needs and pace. Many of my students have gone on to achieve meaningful outcomes: • 100% of JLPT test-takers (N5–N1) passed their exam within 6–12 months of consistent study • Students have successfully landed jobs at Japanese companies and passed university entrance interviews • Beginners have built strong confidence and conversation skills in just a few months My approach is both structured and empathetic. My Teaching Approach: I focus on practical, communicative Japanese, emphasizing clarity, cultural nuance, and confidence-building. My sessions combine structured grammar and vocabulary practice with engaging, real-world applications, such as conversations, short readings, and guided writing. I love using memory-friendly tips to help you remember what you learn. 2. What a Typical Lesson Looks Like: Each lesson starts with a quick review and warm-up. Then, depending on your goals, we may: • Dive into a grammar topic or JLPT prep • Practice natural conversation • Break down a short article, script, or social media post • Work on speaking and listening with pronunciation tips I also provide optional review homework and personalized notes after each class. 3. What Makes Me Different: As someone who grew up in Japan with Chinese heritage and now lives in the U.S., I deeply understand the challenges of navigating multiple languages and cultures.
