About Jinyoung

I am a native Korean and English bilingual who grew up in several countries, including the United States, India, and Kenya, with a few years spent in South Korea in between.

While I attended school in English, my mom personally taught me Korean at home. Because of that, I grew up learning Korean in a very natural way through conversation, repetition, reading, correction, and everyday use.

That experience is a big part of how I want to teach. I understand what it feels like to learn one language in school while developing another language at home, and I can explain Korean in a way that makes sense to English-speaking students.

I am currently a medical student in the United States, and my academic background has taught me how to break complicated ideas down into clear, manageable steps. My goal is to make lessons structured when needed, but still natural, comfortable, and focused on actually using Korean.

About the lesson

My teaching style is inspired by the way my mom taught me Korean growing up.

Instead of focusing only on memorizing vocabulary lists and grammar rules, I want students to learn through conversation, repetition, correction, and practical use. We will still cover important foundations such as Hangul, pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure, but the goal is always to use what you learn in real Korean.

For beginners, I can guide you step by step from Hangul into basic sentences and conversation. As you improve, I will gradually use more Korean during our lessons so that listening and speaking become more natural.

Lessons can be structured or conversational depending on your goals. I want you to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and using Korean without feeling like you are sitting through a formal classroom lecture.
