Ting-hua is very well-versed in clarinet techniques and repertoire, understanding the cultural context of different pieces and able to articulate what sorts of problems I had (whether support, tone, dynamics) and ways to improve / change. I and a friend had studied with Ting-hua for a semester.

Both of us had played clarinet from 5~10 years and in various college ensembles. Still, through the time, we saw drastic improvements in foundational clarinet techniques. I improved in support and tone, and he improved in sight-reading and cuing/harmonizing.

She was able to touch on the advanced clarinet techniques we did not fully grasp in a way that was understandable as well as things outside from the "playing", like maintaining the instrument, etc.

Ting-hua was very understanding and accommodating with time and resources, providing music, "networking", and various tips and tricks for clarinet, in addition to what you would typically expect.
