About Mathias

I'm Mathias, a native Norwegian speaker from Nordland in northern Norway. I teach Norwegian online to adults and teenagers from around the world, and I love seeing students go from their first shy sentences to real conversations.

I studied maritime logistics and economics at Molde University College, and I have worked in sales, where I talked with customers and businesses every day. This gave me a good understanding of the Norwegian used at work, which helps students who are moving to Norway for a job.

I have also written my own Norwegian learning books for levels A1, A2 and B1, so my lessons are structured and well prepared.

I speak fluent English and understand Swedish and Danish well, so I can explain grammar clearly and compare with other Scandinavian languages. I am currently living abroad myself, so I know how it feels to learn to manage in a new country and a new language.

I'm patient, reliable and always on time. I look forward to helping you reach your goals in Norwegian!

About the lesson

My lessons are practical and built around your goal. Whether you are moving to Norway for work, want to talk with Norwegian family and friends, or need to pass Norskprøven, we make a clear plan together from the first lesson.

My method: we speak Norwegian from day one, at a level that fits you. I explain grammar simply and in English when needed, and we focus on the words and sentences you will actually use in daily life, at work and in the test.

A typical lesson:
- A few minutes of conversation to warm up
- New vocabulary or grammar, explained with clear examples
- Speaking practice with real situations, like calling the doctor, a job interview or talking about yourself
- Corrections of pronunciation and common mistakes
- Short homework so you keep improving between lessons

What sets me apart: I have written my own Norwegian learning materials for levels A1, A2 and B1, with exercises and answer keys, so you get structured material and not only conversation.

The lessons are for adults and teenagers, from complete beginners to B1/B2 level, and for students preparing for Norskprøven.
