About Filip

Hi! My name is Filip. My last name is just as unbelievably hard to say as the famous "Brzęczyszczykiewicz" but I absolutely love sharing my love for Polish with others! I grew up only speaking Polish with my family, and am about to complete my third year of intense Polish language study at Columbia University. I am a lover of all things Poland, be that social media, cultural events, or even just food, and love learning new things about the language along with others. I am proudly Polish and fluent in both Polish and English, having the luxury of being born in Poland and raised in the States. While I am still a college student, I am confident in my abilities to explain aspects of Polish written language and culture, passing along the knowledge that had been drilled into my head for years, which eventually turned into a passion.

About the lesson

Polish can be daunting, even for a native speaker, that's why we will take the time to make it clear for you!

Lessons will include a review of what materials were introduced, as well as a revision from last week's lesson. Lessons are tailored to each student to make sure we go at your pace! It's better to go slow and understand rather than try to rush through topics that seem confusing and, specifically with Polish, hard to pronounce!

What sets me apart is my upbringing: I was born in Poland and raised in a solely Polish-speaking household, but raised in the United States. I can speak fluent English and Polish, and completed 12 years of a Polish school, completed a Polish School Exit Exam (matura), as well as a perfect score on the Language Other Than English (LOTE) exam for Polish. Polish is first nature for me, and I love sharing the fun and intricate stuff it gives to speakers.

Lessons are tailored to each student's level, be that middle school, all the way to college and adult learners.
