About Olga

I am a native Russian speaker and an experienced educator with more than 40 years of teaching, mentoring, and professional experience. I was born and educated in Russia and can help students learn both correct Russian and the natural, conversational language used by native speakers.

I hold a PhD and have spent much of my professional career in research and higher education, teaching and mentoring students at different levels. My extensive teaching experience has taught me how to explain difficult ideas clearly, recognize where a student is struggling, and adapt my approach to different learning styles.

As someone who is fluent in both Russian and English, I understand the differences between the two languages and can explain Russian grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and expressions in ways that make sense to English-speaking students. I can also help you distinguish between formal textbook Russian and the Russian you are likely to hear in everyday conversation.

I am patient, encouraging, and flexible in my teaching. Whether you are a complete beginner, want to improve your conversational Russian, or are an advanced student hoping to become more fluent and natural, I will meet you at your current level and help you progress with confidence.

About the lesson

My Russian lessons are personalized to your level, goals, and interests, from complete beginners to advanced students. As a native Russian speaker and an experienced educator, I can help you develop practical language skills while also understanding how Russian really sounds and is used in everyday life.

A major focus can be conversational Russian. We will work on speaking naturally, improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, understanding spoken Russian, and becoming more comfortable carrying on real conversations. Lessons can include everyday situations, travel, family and social conversations, culture, current topics, or subjects that particularly interest you.

For students who want a more structured approach, I also teach Russian grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, and pronunciation. We can combine formal instruction with conversation so that you learn not only the rules of the language but also how to use them naturally.

If you already speak some Russian, lessons can be conducted partly or primarily in Russian to build fluency and confidence. I can also help advanced students refine their vocabulary, pronunciation, and ability to express more complex ideas.

Whether your goal is to learn Russian from the beginning, improve your conversational skills, reconnect with the language, or become a more fluent and confident speaker, I will tailor our lessons to what you want to achieve.
