About Olga

I am a native Russian speaker currently living in Slovakia, fluent in both English and Slovak. Below are the key points of my qualifications: 2019–2024 – PhD in Slavic Studies, University of Prešov, Slovakia. My dissertation focused on neologisms in the Russian language, with a comparative analysis of borrowed words and native word formation. 2024 – Innovative Technologies in Teaching Foreign Languages, University of Applied Sciences, Vienna 2024 – Discover the 7Cs: Learning for Life and Work in the 21st Century, Teacher Academy, Barcelona 2020 – General Methodology for Teaching Russian in a Modern Multilingual Environment, Educational Centre Liga, Volgograd, Russia 2020 – Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language for Beginners in Bilingual Education, Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, Moscow 2020 – Modern Approaches to Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language in a Digital Educational Environment, Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, Moscow 2007–2012 – Master’s Degree in Foreign Philology, Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov I am the author of several scientific articles on topics such as derivational suffixes of agent nouns in Russian, lexical interference, and modern word formation processes in the Russian language.

About the lesson

I tailor my content and teaching methods based on each student's goals, level, and learning preferences. I'm proficient in using a wide range of modern teaching techniques, ensuring that lessons are engaging, effective, and interactive.

Typically, we follow a structured course book as the foundation of the lessons, while I supplement it with a variety of additional materials — including vocabulary, grammar, and phonetic exercises — adapted to the student's individual needs.

My primary teaching approach is the communicative method, which emphasizes real-life language use. I encourage students to speak Russian as much as possible, express their ideas freely, and engage in meaningful conversations on a wide range of topics.

I strive to create a welcoming and empathetic atmosphere, where students feel comfortable and confident speaking, even if they make mistakes. This supportive environment helps learners overcome their fear of speaking and make steady progress.

What sets me apart as a language teacher is my deep, research-based knowledge of Russian. As a native speaker with a PhD in Slavic Studies, I often incorporate insights from Russian language history, literature, and phonetics, offering students a rich and well-rounded understanding of the language. I have received awards in Russian language competitions, and many of my students have also successfully participated in international contests and earned official certificates.

From my students, I expect full engagement during lessons and consistent completion of homework tasks — this mutual commitment ensures the best learning outcomes.

I am also experienced in teaching Russian for specific purposes, including medical, technical, and philological Russian. I design specialized vocabulary and context-based lessons to meet professional or academic requirements.

For online classes, I use Zoom for live sessions and Miro Board for interactive activities, such as brainstorming, exercises, and collaborative tasks.
