About Andrea

Hello! My name is Andrea, and I’m currently in my second to last semester at Grand Valley State University, where I’m pursuing my degree in Spanish Education. Throughout my time at university, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to deepen my understanding of the Spanish language and culture, both academically and personally. As a native Spanish speaker, I have a unique perspective that has enriched my studies and fueled my passion for teaching. I’m dedicated to helping others not only learn the language but also appreciate the rich cultural context that comes with it. Teaching Spanish has become something I truly enjoy, as it allows me to share both my linguistic knowledge and cultural insights with others. I aim to make learning Spanish a rewarding and enjoyable experience for my students.

About the lesson

As a University student attending school for education, I have had the opportunity of spending many hours observing a variety of classrooms in a range of grade levels. This has helped me to know what is required of students from their teachers, what they are learning in class, and how they will be evaluated. Taking this knowledge and applying it directly to my tutoring methods is something that I believe will truly help students, and the experience helps to set me apart as a tutor. I believe learning Spanish should be engaging, practical, and tailored to each student’s needs. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel confident practicing and improving, whether you’re just starting out or refining advanced skills. A typical lesson begins by reviewing the material assigned by the student’s teacher. For example, we might go over a worksheet together, identifying areas of strength and areas that need more practice. From there, the lesson focuses on key areas like grammar, vocabulary, or conversation—specifically addressing the challenges identified earlier. To finish, we’ll discuss upcoming quizzes, tests, essays, presentations, or projects, and work on preparing for them together.
