About Camila

I am originally from Colombia, and Spanish is my first language. I have been living in the United States for the past three years, which has allowed me to become bilingual in Spanish and English. I am currently a college student, responsible, organized, and committed to helping my students improve.

I am an extroverted and friendly person who genuinely enjoys connecting with others. I love working with children and older adults, and I have experience working at a summer camp for two years, where I cared for and rode horses. I have also participated in volunteer work, including a mission trip to Costa Rica, which helped me grow personally and culturally.

I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors, and I recently completed my first 10K race. Because I have diverse interests, I can connect with students on many different topics. My goal is to create lessons that feel natural and engaging—more like a meaningful conversation—while still maintaining structure and professionalism.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is mainly conversational because I know many students struggle more with speaking than with grammar. Sometimes students get tired of only learning rules, so I like to make lessons interactive and focused on real communication. Of course, grammar is important, and since I enjoy grammar and have a strong Spanish foundation, I explain it clearly and in a simple way when needed.

A typical lesson depends on your level and goals. We can start with a short conversation to practice speaking, then work on vocabulary or a specific grammar topic, and finish with speaking exercises to apply what you learned. With younger students, I like to read together and ask questions about the text to help them understand, think, and express their ideas in Spanish. This also helps build confidence and comprehension skills. Depending on your level and preference, lessons can be partially or fully conducted in Spanish to maximize speaking practice.

I am originally from Colombia, so my Spanish is authentic and natural. I can help correct pronunciation, improve sounds, and guide you to speak more fluently. I also have experience working with children between 9 and 13 years old, which has helped me become patient, creative, and supportive as a tutor.

My lessons are ideal for beginners and intermediate students, including kids and adults, who want to improve their speaking skills, pronunciation, and overall confidence in Spanish.
