About Maria

Hi there! I’m Maria, a native Spanish speaker from beautiful Colombia. I’m also a scientist at Stanford, where I’ve learned just how important effective communication can be. I’m excited to share my love for the Spanish language and culture with you! With my experience tutoring Spanish and other subjects, I strive to create a fun and supportive learning environment. About the lesson

As a Spanish teacher, I focus on conversational teaching and aim to create an engaging learning environment. I prioritize real-life conversations over rote memorization, allowing my students to practice speaking and listening in practical contexts, which makes the language feel more relevant and dynamic.

I believe that learning should be fun, so I incorporate games, interactive activities, and creative exercises into my lessons. This approach reduces the pressure often associated with language learning and encourages my students to participate actively.

I strive to create a supportive atmosphere where my students feel comfortable expressing themselves without the fear of making mistakes. Encouraging a growth mindset helps them view challenges as opportunities for improvement.
