About Claudia

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Systems Engineering from Colombia. In 2006 earned my Community Social Work Diploma in Canada. Throughout the years I have completed many courses to complement and strengthen my expertise in immigration and settlement services. I am a Certified Information & Referral Specialists (CIRS) accredited for about 10 years. Currently I work for CULTURELINK as an Advisor Library Settlement worker in the Mimico library (Lakeshore). I created programs such as "Let’s Talk" and "Hola Niños" where the community at large has benefited for over ten years. I have been recognized by the Women's Center in Toronto as an important leader of the Hispanic Woman. I also received twice the Award of Merit awarded by LAMP Lakeshore community center for her contribution in improving the quality of life in the community of Lakeshore. I was recognized as the employee of the year by CULTURELINK. I also serve as President of the Colombian Cultural House and I have been on this board for over six years. Claudia was also a member of the board for the Hispanic Development Council for six years and on the Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council and I was a columnist for the Portada Canada a Spanish newspaper distributed in the GTA.

About the lesson

My teaching methods are cooperative learning because of the benefits it can bring to students. One prominent benefit of cooperative learning is that it enhances social and emotional learning. Furthermore, students who participate in cooperative learning methods look out for the needs of the other students in class as opposed to just their own learning objectives. I will provide in-class activities or fun homework assignments. Students will practice at home with the personalized vocabulary lists to really drive home key language points, or bring into the classroom to bring your lessons to life!
