About Ari

I am a student in University College London from a Jewish background. I believe that language is one of the most crucial aspects of one's identity, and personally feel an obligation to help teach Hebrew in order to help preserve diaspora Jewish communities and help Jews connect with their roots. I believe Hebrew is an intriguing language which also underwent very unique development, and try to communicate the richness of the language through its different layers.

About the lesson

A native speaker, I'd achieved A* in Modern Hebrew GCSE and 97.5% in a Biblical Hebrew module at UCL. I have a licence in working with children, attained whilst I was a teacher assistant in a synagogue where I taught small children and teenagers alike. I can teach conversational skills as well as reading and some grammar. I am receptive to the students' feedback and tailor them to their needs and speed of learning. I will often try to enrich their knowledge with extra-curricular knowledge about Jewish culture, Hebrew roots & etymologies, and recommend resources to avid students. I am good at making formal concepts easier to understand, and use mnemonics & memory tricks to help students remember rules e.g. fluency with the alphabet. My lessons are typically between 30 minutes and 1 hour long.
