About Ma Cristeta

Hi! I'm Crizzie, a native Tagalog speaker from the Philippines. I didn't start out planning to teach , but after years of working closely with people in an educational setting, I realized how much I love helping someone go from "I don't understand a single word" to confidently saying their first full sentence in Tagalog. That moment never gets old for me.

I hold a Master's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Tourism, and over 13 years of experience working in an educational institution. What I carry into every lesson isn't just knowledge of the language — it's an understanding of people: how they learn, what makes them anxious, and what helps them open up and actually try speaking, even if it's imperfect.

I teach Tagalog the way it's really spoken, not textbook phrases, but the language Filipinos actually use every day. Whether you're preparing for a trip, hoping to connect with Filipino family or friends, or simply curious about the language and culture, I want your lessons to feel like a conversation with a friend, not a test.

About the lesson

Every lesson is built around real conversations, not memorized grammar rules. We'll practice the Tagalog people actually use, greetings, introductions, ordering food, asking directions, shopping, traveling, and casual small talk, so you can use what you learn right away, even outside our sessions.

A typical lesson starts with a short review of what we covered last time, then moves into new vocabulary or expressions tied to that day's topic. From there, we practice through guided conversation, light role-play, and pronunciation work, so the language actually sticks. When you make a mistake, I'll correct it gently and explain it simply, this is a space to try, not to be perfect.

I adjust pacing and focus based on your goals: some students want a solid foundation before their trip, others want to keep up in family conversations, and some just want to speak more naturally. Whatever brings you to Tagalog, we'll shape the lessons around it.

These lessons work well for complete beginners, travelers, and anyone with Filipino friends, family, or partners who wants to connect more naturally in conversation. No prior knowledge needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try.
