About Anahera

I mentor for all levels , begginer , intermediate & advanced . Reo kaiako of 6/7 years , I am flexible with all age groups.
I am very passionate about my culture and it's tikanga . As they say be proud to be Maori , no matter who you are ,where you're from , He whanau kotahi tatou(we are all one ) .

My main goal for all my tauira is to get them out of their comfort zone. There are no rights or wrong. Kia kaha ,Kia maia ,Kia manawanui

Whanaungatanga , Matauranga , Turangawaewae , Manaakitanga. 4 words that we will be using or incorporating in your Te Reo Maori journey.I am here to help & support my tauira(students )in achieving their whainga(goals) and to help grow or expand your confidence in using , knowing , understanding , pronouncing and most importantly SPEAKING Te Reo Maori I nga wa katoa.

Kia ora koutou . I am a past colleague of hers , and because she worked along side me as a kaiako Reo Maori I thought I’d come on here and give her an awesome recommendation. Through my time of working with Whaea Anahera I always noticed how natural she was . When she was teaching our tamariki at kura she was very patient and adapted well . Maui raua ko Ranginui me Papatuanuku would be 3 of many legends who would be emblematic representatives of our Reo.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?
He aroha whakato , He aroha puta mai . (If kindness is sown, kindness you shall receive)
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
Speaking this language matters to me because I want to share our culture and reo with everyone . I am proud to be Māori .
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
The main difficulty of learning Te Reo would be understanding what you're actually saying and the meaning behind it, and pronunciation. Practicing and being consistent, having a good tutor with patience, and a supporting whanau and surroundings can help the process of learning.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
Being patient is the key to learning and teaching Te Reo Maori. Allowing yourself to become confident and comfortable in your own time.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Going back to your Turangawaewae and Haukainga will help you understand and find out who you are and where you're from.
