About Ashwathi

I have a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Manchester, where I researched Alzheimer's disease and retinitis pigmentosa, and a Master's research background in circadian biology.

I offer Biology lessons for school students and university students, covering topics such as cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, human physiology, neuroscience, evolution, ecology, and more. I can also help with understanding lecture material, exam preparation, and breaking down particularly difficult topics.

My lessons are tailored to what each student needs. I break down complicated concepts into simple, logical steps and use diagrams, visual presentations, easy-to-revise notes, and practice questions to help make the material stick. Rather than just explaining a topic and moving on, I focus on checking understanding, identifying gaps, and revisiting concepts until they make sense.

With my research background, I also bring Biology to life by connecting textbook knowledge to real scientific discoveries and experiments. For older students, this can include exploring how research questions are investigated and how scientific evidence is interpreted.

I believe in quality over quantity. My goal is not to get through as many pages as possible, but to help you genuinely understand what you're learning, remember it for the long term, and feel confident applying that knowledge in exams and beyond.

I currently have University students I tutor every week who send me their course work and presentations. I break down the material into the most important concepts, explain difficult topics in simpler terms, and create clear, easy-to-revise notes and presentations. This helps students focus on what they really need to understand without getting overwhelmed by too much information.

Feel free to chat with me about your needs and we can chart the best way forward!
