About Monica
I have worked with families with children from infants to age 16 as a nanny for 15 years in various locations. My primary role would be to nurture and stimulate the children with play, education through games, art, lifeskills, reading, outings, etc.
I am educated with a Diploma in the field of Social Services and am TESOL certified. My work in the industry of Social Services for 5 years allowed me to work as a Support Counsellor in shelters for street youth, structured instituitions (group homes) with children under the care of CAS and 2 and a half years as a live-in CYW/ Foster Parent with up to 4 teens under the care of Childrens Aid, needing shelter, structure, support and nurturing in a safe environment. As such it was required that I taught life skills such as cooking, budgeting, daily hygiene, assistance with homework and offering guidance/support during difficult situations they would encounter.
