About Priya

I began my Bharatanatyam journey at the age of 4, under the tutelage of Smt. Hemalatha Gurumoorthy, a direct disciple of the legendary Guru Vempatti Chinna Sathyam Pillai. This early foundation laid in the Pandanallur style has deeply influenced my dance, instilling in me a reverence for the traditional values, aesthetic discipline, and expressive richness of classical Bharatanatyam. Over the years, I pursued formal training with dedication, earning a Diploma in Bharatanatyam with Distinction and being honored with a State Gold Medal for my excellence in the art. With more than 15 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of mentoring students of various age groups and skill levels, helping them build strong technique, confidence, and stage presence. I have choreographed over 15 full-length margams, staying rooted in tradition while bringing out the unique artistic strengths of each performer. My solo and group performances have been featured at esteemed cultural venues and sacred temples, including Thanjavur, Chidambaram, Tirupati, Mylapore, Nellore, Mangaluru, and Mysore. Through structured and engaging online classes, I now continue my mission of sharing the purest form of Bharatanatyam with passionate learners across the globe, keeping alive the legacy passed on through generations of gurus and nurturing a deep, lifelong connection to this divine art form.

About the lesson

My online Bharatanatyam classes are thoughtfully designed to bring the traditional Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam to students around the world — in its purest and most authentic form.

Classes are conducted live via Google Meet, with a strong focus on individual attention, even in group sessions. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced-level student, each session is tailored to meet your pace and level of learning.

Here's what to expect:

Structured Curriculum – Covering adavus, jatis, alarippu, jathiswaram, shabdam, varnam, padams, and tillana based on traditional margam structure.
Theoretical Training – Learn the foundation of Bharatanatyam theory, including Natya Shastra, Abhinaya Darpana, mudras, karanas, angaharas, mandalas, and bhedas.
Exam Preparation – Special coaching for grade exams, diplomas, and certifications, ensuring both practical and academic excellence.
Regular Feedback & Corrections – Detailed corrections and guidance are provided in every session to improve posture, expressions, and rhythm.
Performance Training – Opportunities to learn full margams and prepare for stage performances and temple festivals.
Flexible Batch Timings – Weekend and weekday slots available for kids, teens, and adults.
