About Emerik

I have been teaching physics and mathematics ever since I was a student myself! For over 20 years, I have worked as an educator in various capacities (as a TA, tutor, high school teacher, and college professor) while pursuing a lifelong passion for learning which continues to this day. I recently completed a Master's degree in Science Education which has challenged me countless times to reflect on my own educational practices. More importantly, these studies served as an effective reminder of what it is like to be a student learning something unknown for the first time. Knowledge can be humbling! I play guitar, love music (mostly heavy metal), cooking, reading, and spend much of my free time with my kids outdoors. Let's connect and see if I might be a good fit for your learning needs.

About the lesson

I adopt principles of Universal Design for Learning in all of my teaching. Lessons are offered in various formats (notes, answer keys, video recordings, etc.) to accommodate and support individual students' needs and strengths. I focus on the process of learning rather than the end result, encouraging my students to take risks and helping them learn from their mistakes when the stakes are low. I also leverage technology to enhance lessons and maximize student engagement. Using simulation-based software and a variety of web apps can help students better understand abstract physical principles without the need for a fully equipped lab.
